"The worst of growing up....

The things you wanted so much when you were a child don't seem half so wonderful to you when you get them." - Anne of Green Gables

Current events in My Life

I bought "Netter's Neurology" last week to read in preparation for residency. Adams is the recommended text, but Netter is friendlier, with less technical jargon, bigger fonts and lots of pretty pictures (from the same guy who brought to us the best-selling Atlas of Human Anatomy)! I would still have to read Adams someday, but for now, I want something less intimidating. It's over 900 pages long and I calculated that if I read a hundred pages a day, I would finish it in 10 days. But it's exactly a week since I bought it and I am not even halfway through the book.

On the more productive side of things, I learned a new song on the piano--"sarang ha myun hal soo rok" (More Than Love), theme from the movie The Classic. Thanks Maffy for the piano arrangement!  I've been printing music sheets of my favorite Korean music, most of them from Phoebe, and some I have downloaded. Now that I am on a break, I hope to learn at least "no ege nan na ege non" also from The Classic, "chu eum bu tuh ji geum kka ji" (From Beginning Until Now) from Winter Sonata, "sarang in ga yo" (Perhaps Love) from Goong and Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D.

Counting the days

It's exactly a month before Christmas and I haven't begun shopping for presents yet.
It's even less than a month til I return to Manila for residency. I don't think I'll get to spend the holidays with my family. Sadness.
It's the last few weeks of my vacay and I am cramming the "things" I wouldn't be able to do in a loooong time.
