I decided to get some exercise today. I gained a lot during the board review and more so during the vacation.  And I hoped to lose some inches to fit into the clothes I had tailored for my new job.

So I donned my comfiest sneakers and proceeded to get some exercise, which is to walk the mall! Haha! I was never the athletic/sporty type!  Bought some things off my Baby’s Wishlist. And visited my dentist for an elastic change to blue. But there was a mall sale and there were too many people so my original half-day workout plan was cut short.

But in the course of my (short) wanderings, I found a very cute strawberry pendant. I’ve been wanting one ever since this:

I just luv everything Son Ye Jin-ish!

Updated My List of K-Movies seen:

Spin KickSpin Kick is about a group of high school delinquents who are unwittingly thrust into their school's Taekwondo club and its 50-year winning legacy they have to uphold. The story's typical "underdog saves the day" (or the school rather), with this bizarre mix of characters miraculously making it to the tournament semis and even winning the championship! Starring Kim Dong Wan as the hooligan-turned-hero and Hyun Bin as the taekwondo team captain (later replaced by KDW). I’m starting to think that Hyun Bin isn’t so gorgeous after all.  He looked ordinary in this movie and if his role wasn’t as big, he could be easily overlooked as in “Daddy Long Legs”. Was also unimpressed by his post-SamSoon performance in “A Millionaire's First Love.” Seems like it was Sam Shik that I luvd.

MusaMusa (The Warrior). I haven't seen a lot of period Korean movies for me to be able to say if I generally like them or not. "Chihwaseon" had beautiful cinematography while "The King  and the Clown " had great actors, but they were just alright.  My favorite period Korean movie is "Untold Scandal" (aka Dangerous Liaisons-slash-Cruel Intentions circa 18th century Korea). And among my favorite movies (overall) are "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" and "Hero". Musa is a cross-cultural production, starring His Royal Hotness Jung Woo Seung and the same hot chick from Crouching and Hero--Zhang Zhiyi. Musa was hot.... literally! Being shot entirely in the desert, it was all heat and sand. And dusty people... And dusty people fighting each other... And a Chinese Princess Toadstool (Zhang)! The movie just bored the hell out of me!  I’m sorry (I did’t luv you).

Mutt BoyMutt Boy. After being a warrior, Woo Seung takes on the role of a dim-witted teenage boy (more like a boy-man as he looks so huge!) and his quest into the real world, like stray dog fending for itself and fighting it out in a “dog eat dog” world. (If Mutt Boy were tagalized, an appropriate title would be “Askal.” ) It shows a different kind of Woo Seung--idiotic, ridiculous, foolhardy. Though I prefer him in “Jiwoogae” and “Sad Movie”. There’s a topless shower scene and another scene of him in briefs fighting with a fellow inmate. But they are bland. His Giordano ads with Jeon Ji Hyun are more exciting even though he’s clothed in them!  <-- yummy icon! Hehe.  Muttboy’s more fun to watch than Musa, IMO. But still mediocre.

SilmidoSilmido. The best of the 4 K-movies I have seen of late, and one of the better ones overall. Starring Sol Kyung Gu, Ahn Sung Ki, Jung Jae Young. Gosh! Ahn Sung Ki's everywhere! (He was also in Musa. Reminded me of the time I watched “The Romantic President”, “Chihwaseon” and “Arahan” and he was in all 3!) How old is the man? He's still very fit!!!!  Heo Joon Ho’s character as Sgt. Cho was a pleasant surprise! As training officer of the new recruits, he was a ruthless and unkind. But in the end, he becomes their protector and we see that there is a smidgen of humanity still left in him.
Based on actual events, Silmido is another one of those “Korean War”-themed movies (Hmm... Mr. Paquet hasn’t updated the list yet to include “Welcome to Dongmakgol”  ). More in-depth reviews @: Koreanfilm.org, Media Circus, KungFuCult Cinema, Shuqi.org, Beyond Hollywood.

How To Keep My Love. This isn't really part of my K-movie marathon. I just caught it on cable. Starring Kim Jung Eun, Kim Sang Kyun and Oh Seung Hyun (Shin Ha Kyun's pregnant girlfriend in “Guns and Talks” and Jung Jae Young's girlfriend who dumped him in "Someone Special". No wonder she looked familiar!) It's about KJE's efforts at "keeping her love" but I was actually rooting more for OSH.
